Sacred May is a progressive metalcore band known for its dynamic fusion of powerful vocals, aggressive bass and drums, and a contrast of melodic choruses with intense breakdowns. Their sound captures both emotional depth and raw energy, creating a distinctive musical experience. Lyrically, the band tackles current political events, using their music as a platform for awareness and reflection on pressing societal issues.

 

 

Founded on April 23rd, 2021, Sacred May is a trio made up of vocalist Olivia Koumoundouros, bassist/guitarist Ben Miller, and drummer Liam vonRiesen. Despite having no dedicated guitarist, the band creatively overcomes this with modern music technology—Ben splits his bass signal through a guitar amplifier and octaves it up, producing a full, guitar-like tone that fills out their heavy sound.

 

 

Sacred May made their debut with “Flawed By Design”, an EP recorded in Liam’s basement just before connecting with their current full-time producer, Joey Vana, who went on to master the tracks. Since then, the band has built a strong creative partnership with Joey, who has recorded, mixed, and mastered two singles—"Fools Paradise" and "White Lies"—along with their first full-length album, Of Light And Shade. This collaboration has helped refine and evolve the band’s sound, marking a new chapter in their artistic journey.

 

 

Over the past two years, Sacred May has poured their passion and purpose into writing, recording, and producing their debut album, Of Light And Shade. The record dives deep into a range of societal issues and ongoing current events, staying true to the band's commitment to meaningful, message-driven music. Set for release on all platforms on June 21st, 2025, the band is thrilled to finally share this powerful and personal project with the world.
